The Brazos Valley Poultry Club has hosted 30 exhibition poultry shows over the years since the inception of the club in 1981. That marks 2023 as the 31st annual Bluebonnet Classic Poultry Show, which has now grown into the largest poultry show in the state of Texas. We hope to see you at our next show on January 7, 2023, in Navasota, Texas.

Will the open poultry show be a single or double show?

The Bluebonnet Classic will return to a single show in 2023.


When can exhibitors coop in birds?

The show room will open Friday, January 6, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm to reciee birds. Saturday, January 7, the show room will reopen at 7:00 am. Judging will begin promptly at 9:00 am, and and all entries must be in place by this time.


Can exhibitors coop out and/or leave early?

Absolutely no early coop out is allowed outside of an emergency situation. An announcement will be made for exhibitors to begin cooping out following awards.

Is the "clean up fee" included on the show form mandatory?

Yes, the $5 "clean up fee" is mandatory for every exhibitor.


How can I pay my entry fees?

Exhibitors may pay their entry fees via the following options:

  • Mail your payment (check or money order) with your entry fees. (preferred)

  • Submit your payment (check, money order, or cash) to the show secretary upon arriving for coop-in.

  • Pay online by submitting your entry fee via PayPal (bvpoultryclub@gmail.com) or Venmo (@bvpoultryclub). Please note on your entry form if you are using either of these options. We will notify you when we receive your payment.


What does "B-S-W" mean on the entry form?

When completing your entry form, please indicate the classification of your entries according to the following abbreviations:

B - Bantam

S - Standard (Large Fowl)

W - Waterfowl


I missed the entry deadline. Can I still enter the show or make changes to my entry?
Late entries and changes/additions will be accepted until Tuesday, January 3rd. Please send late entries for the open, junior, and backyard poultry shows to our show secretary at PrestonRCummings@gmail.com at your earliest convenience and include a current copy of your PT certificate if available.

Can I attend the show if I am not an exhibitor?

Absolutely! We recommend guests to join us between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to experience the show, check out our live auction items, and enjoy a barbeque lunch. We kindly ask that you refrain from intervening with the judges; feel free to find an exhibitor or show staff to ask questions about the show or judging process. Admissions and parking are free.


Will there be live poultry and/or poultry-related items for sale at the show?

There will be a silent auction held during the show that includes both live poultry and poultry-related items. In previous years, this auction has included pairs and trios of high-quality birds, various poultry eqipment, transportation boxes, books, antiques, and much more. We will also have a sale area at the show located under the outdoor pavilion but cannot guarantee the vendors or items that will be available.


How can I reserve a space in the sale area at the show?

You may reserve a space in the sale area located outside under the pavilion for $25. Vendors selling items other than live poultry may locate inside the show room if spacing allows. Please contact Dan Dykes at 979-324-2694 or dandykes@rocketmail.com to reserve a space.


Will food and/or concessions be available?

We will be serving a Texas-style barbeque lunch prepared by the Choate family. An announcement will be made when food is ready to be served. Coffee will be available free of charge Saturday morning.
